Greetings to IHS alumni and friends of Ipswich

We would like to tell you about the purpose and formation of the Ipswich Area Foundation (IAF).    IAF got its inception from the undefeated 1949 IHS football team at the All School Reunion in 2000.

IAF was organized in the Spring of 2001.  At that time, nine people from the community were elected to serve on the board.

Donations to the Foundation are invested in the SD Foundation.  IAF is a permanent endowment, only the interest is spent.  Funds that are invested here will generate revenue for worthwhile projects for generations to come.

To date, IAF has awarded nine scholarships to graduating seniors, and eleven grants to non-profit organizations in the community.  It is the generous donations and memorials from people such as yourselves, that make this possible.

The following challenge has been offered by an IHS graduate.  We encourage all of you to consider a gift to your community.  What a way to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Dr. Bill Bloemendaal and his wife Lynn, of Great Falls, Montana, have offered a challenge to the Ipswich Area Foundation.  They have challenged the IAF with raising $50,000 in a three year period. If the IAF is able to meet that challenge, we will receive the $50,000 that the Bloemendaal’s have given to the SD Community Foundation.  If we are unable to raise this amount, the $50,000 that the Bloemendaal’s gave to the Foundation will go elsewhere.

Dr. Bill Bloemendaal is a former Ipswich native and son of Dr. Jack and Gladys Bloemendaal.  He feels that this is one way he can repay the community and SD for the fine education he received, and the strong influence and guidance given to him by his parents, the Williams’ families, and many others, as he was growing up in Ipswich.

We want to encourage people of the community, people who have roots to the community, and friends of the community,  to remember the Ipswich Area Foundation with gifts, memorials, or contributions.  Your contributions are tax deductible.  For more information, contact David Williams at 605-426-6031, or by mail at PO Box 277, Ipswich, SD  57451.
