Life In Ipswich

Recreation

Despite being a relatively small community, Ipswich offers an excellent quality of life for the outdoor enthusiast. Hunting and fishing opportunities abound in the area. Edmunds County has had quality upland game hunting for many years, with pheasant, partridge, and sharp tailed grouse being the primary species. There is also a healthy population of white-tailed deer here and being in the prairie pothole region, we have excellent numbers of waterfowl that migrate through the country.

There are many small lakes and reservoirs within easy driving distance of Ipswich where fishing for Panfish and Northern Pike can be excellent. Mina Lake State Recreation Area is located fifteen miles East of Ipswich and offers swimming, boating and fishing opportunities. Campers can enjoy the 36 unit campground. The real jewel for the avid fisherman is Lake Oahe on the Missouri River - just an hour drive to the West - is famous for it's Walleye.

Ipswich has a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, a swimming pool and an all weather track. A softball field, a baseball diamond and three parks can be found within the city limits.
